You wouldn't leave a window open all year long in your home. So why let your house leak air while draining your wallet? That doesn't make good sense. It's more efficient to make your home work for you, by sealing air leaks.
A lot of homes leak air the equivalent of an open window, even though all the windows are completely closed. Many people don't realize their home heating escapes through innumerable holes, cracks and gaps throughout a house. When you add up all this escaped air in a home, it easily equals the area of an open window.
Innovative Air Solutions can find and seal air leaks in your home throughout New York. Call or contact us online for a free estimate and we'll diagnose your home, seal the air leaks, and save you money on your home energy bills in NY.
The stack effect: Convection causes warm air in your house to rise. When the warm air hits your attic, it wants to keep rising. This is the main cause of air leakage -- into and out of the attic, through many cracks and openings.
When the air leaks through the attic, the same amount of air will come in through the lower levels. This causes a vacuum or stack effect where air inside leaks out the top of the attic, causing outside air to enter at the bottom of the home.
Air leaks cost you money every day
A leaky house has air constantly coming in and out of it and you're paying to heat, air condition and dehumidify that air. Plus, your home is still not comfortable even though you're paying for it. That just doesn't make sense.
Floor Joints Are Leaks
A house is like a car that is made up of many parts. Those parts include boards, nails, wiring and drywall. When these parts are put together they don't always fit snug and even if they are snug, they usually settle and move slightly.
This is normal, but it creates gaps, loose connections and voids where air can enter and exit a home. These voids are where your heating and cooling money goes if they are not sealed.
Leaks are a natural part of building a house. Once the house frame is built, plumbers, HVAC contractors and electrical contractors go to work running pipes, wires and lines throughout the house.
Putting these utilities in a house create holes in the structure, big and small which then let air in. Some of the leakage can be small but a gap where an eave soffit should be, will let a lot more air out. The structure isn't compromised but it can add a lot of cost to heat and cool a leaky home.
Air Sealing a home puts more money in your pocket while making using your home's energy efficiency to make it more comfortable to live in.
The air sealing process involves detective work to find where the leaks are coming from, and sealant that will keep the air out forever. Sounds easy, right?
To find everywhere your home is leaking air, you need equipment, detective work and access to all parts of your house (some you may not even know about!). Once leaks are identified, it's important to use the right air sealing products and techniques professionals use, to seal them.
Innovative Air Solutions says…
By having your home professionally air sealed, you can reduce your heating & cooling costs by 20% or more.
Air sealing is a "once-in-a-lifetime" repair. Once you've made this energy-saving upgrade, there's nothing to maintain or replace.
You simply keep enjoying the benefits of greater comfort and energy savings, for as long as you own your home.
No more leaks!
Innovative Air Solutions uses two-part foam for many air-sealing tasks. The mixture leaves the nozzle as a liquid, and then expands rapidly to fill gaps and cracks. When it sets, the foam creates an airtight barrier that also provides great insulation value.
The excitement of seeing your home's bills go down is understandable. If you've had air sealing done by our crew, you won't have to wait for several months worth of utility bills to see a difference in energy efficiency.
Our technicians perform a second blower door test following the completion of air sealing work. This second door blower test will give additional data that the house is more airtight giving you greater levels of comfort and savings on heating and cooling costs.
