If you have central air conditioning, forced-air heating or both, your house has a system of ductwork that distributes heated or cooled (conditioned) air through your home.
There are supply ducts that "blow" conditioned air in to your various rooms, while return ducts bring air to the furnace or air-conditioning unit so this air can be conditioned and redistributed.
This cycle continues until your home thermostat tells your furnace or AC the right temperature has been reached.

- Comfort: Leaking supply ducts let out air you've paid to heat or cool before it even gets into your home. Leaky return ducts allow unconditioned air from your attic, basement, or crawl space to leak back into your system. In both cases, the air that reaches your living space isn't as conditioned it's supposed to be, so your comfort is compromised.
